Internal Wall Insulation
Internal wall insulation is a heavy duty way of insulating a solid bricked property. In a solid bricked house, up to 45% of the heat is lost through the walls so it's extra important to have them insulated.
Why have Internal Wall Insulation installed?
What is Internal Wall Insulation?
Internal wall insulation is a type of insulation installed on solid walled properties. These properties were built prior to the 1950s and do not have a cavity wall.
How does it work?
A second wall is effectively built in front of the first. This wall is battened down with wood and then insulated with 130mm SWIP boards.
This additional wall with insulation acts as an effective way of keeping the cold out and the warmth in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it cause damp?
No- when installed correctly, internal wall insulation does not cause damp issues. To make sure this doesn't happen, we ensure that sufficient ventilation is installed.
What will get put back after?
We will work around electricals and will happily put them back. We'll plaster the wall to finish. The only thing we won't do is redecorate.
Will internal wall insulation take up some of the room?
Yes- however, it will only a minimal amount. 13 CM (approx. 4 inches) from each external wall.
